The Irony of Blaming others for Your Unhappiness

by - 19:00:00

You see sometimes even if we are given the opportunity to choose again we'll repeat our choices. No matter where you're in life right now you can enjoy and live it to the fullest. No one is the cause of your unhappiness so quit blaming others. Accept responsibility for your choices and learn to live with them. Make the changes you require to make your life what you want it to be.

Last week's post was titled "The Irony of Thinking Your Life is Insignificant" and although today's post is a continuation I've decided to give it a different title, pardon me for this. However, I feel and you'll agree with me that this title is more befitting our subject. So, we started to discuss how we sometimes perceive our lives to be insignificant. It is rather ironic because our lives are very important hence our illusions of insignificance are nothing but lies from the enemy.

In  the pursuit of finding meaning there are those who are trapped in much unhappiness and despair. They blame others for their choices. They live in the past and cannot let go long enough to stay in the presence. Their obsession with the past ensures that they live as zombies in the presence. They sleep walk through all the major events in their lives thus they are unable to see, live to the full or appreciate the kind of life they have been blessed with.

I love movies and so let me once again use the plot of a movie to illustrate my point. Our movie for the week is the 2009 movie Seventeen Again. So, there lives this middle aged guy who has a beautiful loving wife and two great kids but he doesn't appreciate them. He blames his wife for his inability to get a promotion at work. He complains and bemoans the fact that he would have gone ahead to play college basketball had his then girlfriend not told him on the basketball court of her pregnancy. His lack of focus and concentration cost him his dream of playing basketball professionally and getting a scholarship for college. He is given the opportunity to live his life over. He is seventeen again and goes back to High School. To cut a long story short he recognizes that he would make the same choice again. He chooses to go after his wife rather than play basketball.

So, our hero of this particular story realizes that he loves his family. He realises that what he needs is an attitude change and a change of jobs.  He takes up basketball coaching at his former high school. He then becomes who he could have been all these years.

You can change your life and let it be what  you desire it to be. Quit whining and blaming others, take charge of your life. Change your attitude and perspective. Choose to enjoy life and make the changes that you desire.

What would you change about your life if you could? Take steps to just do it!
