8 Reasons Why You Must Pray

by - 08:00:00

Prayer is communication with God. It is a personal time spent with God. Prayer like any form of communication is a two way affair not a one way street. You speak to God and then He speaks to you. It’s a time of fellowship with your Father where you get to be in His presence and bask in His glory. God delights in your prayers and the time you spend with Him.
With this introduction let’s zoom into why you must pray
1. You must pray because Jesus prayed.

Jesus who is the word of God and the creator of all things prayed. When God took on flesh and became man, He prayed. You are not more powerful than God so if Jesus spent so much time to pray then you must also pray.
And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone. Matthew 14:2
And when he had sent them away, he departed into a mountain to pray. Mark 6:46
And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed. Mark 1:35
And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God. Luke 6:12
2. You must pray because the Bible encourages you to pray without ceasing.
Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;         Romans 12:12
Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; Ephesians 6:18
But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.1 Peter 4:7
3. You must pray because Jesus told us to pray.
And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; Luke 18:1
Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man. Luke 21:36
And said unto them, Why sleep ye? rise and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. Luke 22:46

4. You must prayed because the disciples prayed.
These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren. Acts 1:14
And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. Acts 2:42
5. You must pray because prayer makes so much power available to you.
And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness. Acts 4:31
Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him. And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison. And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands. And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me. And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision. When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from him. And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews. Acts 12:5-11
6. You must pray because God listens to and answers your prayers.
For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil. 1 Peter 3:12
And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full. John 16:23-24
7. You must pray because God will not do anything on earth unless we grant Him permission through prayer. If you want to change things, then pray.

8. You must pray because prayer is where battles are won in the spiritual battlefield. Learn to win in the spiritual and you will experience victory in the physical.
