6 Reasons Why You Must Go to Church
In the previous posts; Now That You Are Saved: What Happens When You Accept Jesus into Your Heart, What Happens When You Accept Jesus into Your Heart II and 10 Scripture Verses on Who You Are in Christ, we discussed what happens when you accept Jesus as your Lord and personal saviour. You become a child of God, a new creature. After you are saved what do you do next? In this post, we take a look at 6 reasons why you must join a church.

By church, we mean a body of believers who meet regularly for fellowship. Both new Christians and matured Christians need to belong to a church. The following are 6 reasons why you must go to church.

1. As a child of God, you’ve been born into a family hence you must spend time with your family. This will help you grow into and mature in the things of God.
Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.1Corinthians 12:27
You are not an only child must have siblings who you need to know and work with.
For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. For the body is not one member, but many. If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling? But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him. And if they were all one member, where were the body? But now are they many members, yet but one body.1Corinthians 12:13-20, NKJ
2. The Bible cautions us not to stop fellowshipping with our brothers and sisters in Christ.
Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching. Hebrew 10:25, NKJV
3. You must go to church so you can be fed the word of God. Just as you feed  your physical body, you must also feed your spirit man. The Bible says, ‘Faith comes by hearing, and hearing the word of God.’ Consequently, you need to belong to a body of believers where you are taught the word of God so that your spirit man can be nourished. Jesus fellowshipped with His disciples and other people who came to Him. The apostles and the early church continued to fellowship together.
4. You must go to church because God has strategically placed people in His body to instruct and guide you to growth.
And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;  But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ. Ephesians 4:11, NKJ
5. You grow in the knowledge of who you are in Christ by fellowshipping with other believers. Most importantly, you discover your purpose or calling through fellowship. Paul and Barnabas received their calling as they worshiped with other believers.
As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them. Acts 13:2, KJV
6. You are encouraged and strengthened as you go to church. The preaching of the word grows your faith and helps you overcome challenges. In church,  you will find encouragement, love, kindness, instruction and discipline to help your Christian walk.
But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. Hebrews 3:13, KJV
Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; Ro mans12:10-12, KJV
And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you. Ephesians 4:32 (KJV)
You are part of the body of Christ and so must fully participate in His body. Don’t stay alone but find a body of believers to join. Why do you go to church? Let us in the comment such section.
