DARE to MOVE ON
I stood in a queue for about twenty minutes waiting for a bus. I wanted to move from the current bus station to another one to get a car to my destination but didn’t. This was because I kept wondering what would happen if I left the queue I was on. I thought ‘what if a bus comes as soon as I leave?’ I said to myself then I would have wasted my time and missed the bus. I also wondered whether I would get a bus at the other bus station. I didn’t want to have to join another queue there. However, I finally decided to go to the other station but as I walked out I saw a bus drive in, I quickly went back to join the queue assuming the bus would go to my destination but this was not to be.
As I waited to find out if the bus
would go to my destination, I heard clearly, “If you want to leave the queue
leave, stop worrying about what would or would not happen if you leave. Do not
be focused on what you stand to lose, think about the other possibilities. Move
on.” I then decided to move to the next station and as soon as I got there, I
found a bus loading to my destination. I joined the bus although it takes a
different route. This route to my destination was longer yet it eventually took
me to my destination. Then it hit me that the Lord was not just ministering to
me concerning the current situation but concerning other things as well. Many
times we are consumed with worry over what we stand to lose when we leave a
particular situation (could be a job, relationship, business partnership or
responsibilities). This blinds us from seeing the possibilities that lay ahead
of us. Rather than worry over what you stand to lose, ponder over what you stand
to gain when you decide to let go and move on. Fear of the unknown holds us back
from reaching out and broadening our horizons but if only we will let go of the
ifs and move on, we will discover what we stand to gain rather than lose.
In the end I got to my destination
without getting stuck in traffic because of this route although I suffered the
discomfort of traveling longer because of this. Bear in mind that the shorter
route would also have been long because of traffic. The point is sometimes the
Lord wants you to take the longer road and wants you to move on to other places.
He wants you to grow, not to be stuck and not to hold unto things which do not
make you happy. It is about following His lead and leaving even when you are
afraid to. What do you stand to lose? Rather ask, what do I stand to gain and
learn? There is a lot waiting for you out there, be bold and decide to move on.
You might doubt your ability to make
it on your own or in another place but bear in mind that these thoughts are
mostly just assumptions or excuses to prevent you from moving on. It is more
comfortable to stay in that place than to move on yet what if there is
something better waiting at the other side? It is a risk you would have to take
any ways for until you make the decision you will remain stuck to and frustrated
with where you are.
Sometimes the greatest gift you can give yourself is to leave. In leaving you open a new chapter and a new page to write on new experiences. It is a new canvas that as an artiste is at your disposal to fill with a great painting. It is normal to hesitate and doubt your choice but if after sincerely pouring out your heart to God and you feel led, do move on. Do not wait any minute longer. Nothing ventured, nothing gained!
