The whole world longs for a hero, someone who would save us all from the enemy and the hardships of life. You just need to read comics and children stories to find out that the world is preoccupied with heroes. We grew up with heroes like the Spider Man, Batman, Superman, Hercules, Sinbad just to mention a few.
I remember those days when I couldn’t
wait for school to be over so I could go home and watch my favourite superhero.
I kept thinking of how great it would be if I could actually meet a real life
superhero. For years I wouldn’t miss my favourite Clark Kent of Small Ville. Wouldn’t
it be wonderful if he really existed and could come to your aid whenever you
were in trouble or needed help?
We all admire heroes because for one,
they’re people we believe are selfless. They step in to help others without
caring about their safety. They arrive on time when you need them but things can
go wrong sometimes because they are limited. They cannot be everywhere at the
same time therefore they can only save one person at a time. Sometimes they can
arrive too late. I am fascinated by superheroes but I must admit almost all
superheroes never die to save anyone. They’re given the ability to endure a lot
of pain, plus  they always, some how, manage to stay alive for the next
episode.
However, there is a superhero I know
whose ultimate sacrifice to ensure that all people were saved at the same time
was to give his life. Let me bore you a bit with a story. Once upon a time, there
lived a people in a world of darkness, they had no light and could not do any
good because they were full of darkness. This was by no fault of theirs but that
of their ancestor, the man they all hailed from. The ancestor had sinned and the
penalty of his sin was death. However God could not bear to kill the one He had
created in His own image and so although the nature of this man had changed from
God to sin, He let him be. All this time God looked for ways to bring this man
and his descents back to Him. There was no way to take out the sin nature that
had entered man but through death. The only one whose death could totally wipe out  this nature in man was God Himself. So like a true hero He came in the
form of Jesus and as a human lived like us. He showed people the love of God. That
is how much God loves us and what He was willing to give up for us. He was
envied and killed but on the third day He rose again and gave us the free gift
of salvation and of eternal life. Just as it was by virtue of this ancestor's sin that you came to live in darkness so by the virtue of Jesus' death and resurrection you're transported into the Kingdom of lights.
This hero among heroes gave up His
life for humanity because of love and asked for nothing in return but that we
accept His love and gifts of salvation and eternal life. Greater love has no man
but to lay down his life for another. Behold what love that the Father has loved us that
when we were yet sinners He gave up His life for us. God loves you so much and
all what He asks is that you believe in Jesus Christ. This is all that you need
to be saved and be free from it all.
