Being and Becoming

by - 19:00:00

Life is not a bed of roses so a wise saying says. I'm thinking you've probably realised the validity of this statement. We all wish we could have a trail free life. A life devoid of sufferings, conflict, disappointment and death. We wish that our lives would be all sunny with no storms or winds to disturb our tranquility but if wishes were horses then indeed beggars would ride!

I read this somewhere though I can't recall where. It made an impact on how I saw and analysed situations. I hope you can learn from it as I did. There is the carrot, egg and coffee beans. When these are boiled for ten minutes each on high heat they are transformed. The carrot becomes softer after it's been boiled while the egg becomes hardened. Before the egg is boiled it is very fragile and has just it's shell as protection.

However when heat is applied to it it becomes hard. Coffee beans on the other hand when boiled blends in with the water. It changes the water and becomes better and smells sweeter.

Which of these are you, have you become softer because of all your trails or have you become hardened. Have you lost who you are in the face of your experiences? Or are you the coffee beans who becomes better through all the heat? It is important that you realise that no matter what you are going through it is only temporary. No situation lasts forever, whatever you are passing through today will pass. God never promised us a trouble free life however He did promise that He will be with us and take us through it all. Don't let your circumstances break or weaken you. Don't let them make you lose who you are but rather like the coffee bean conquer and rise above them.

I know that sometimes you are overwhelmed by all that is happening in your life and wish to end it all but remember you're strong enough to go through it, overcome and come out triumphant. Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world. You're bigger than any situation, remember today's struggle is tomorrow's memory.
