The Fairytale Wedding and Her Happily Ever After

Every woman is a princess and wants to be treated as a queen by her man. She dreams of her knight in shining armour who will sweep her off her feet. She dreams of that fairy tale wedding, one befitting of a princess.
So the day comes and like a breathe of sunshine he breezes into her life. She is in love!

Her very own prince charming has arrived. She is so excited and spends her day dreaming of their life together. She starts to see her own 'And they lived happily ever after'. But of course her happily ever after begins with a wedding. The wedding of her dream. Oh, God she must have had it over a million times already in her mind. Hers must be an event that all will remember. She will be the most beautiful bride ever!

She almost forgot that weddings were costly. Well, she thought she knew how expensive they were, but her jaws dropped when the event planner gave her an estimate of how much her dream wedding will cost. She couldn't believe it. Well, they must have hyped the price, she said. So she came to the conclusion that she will organise her own wedding.

The wedding event organisation began on that note. Her savings plus his were not enough to pay for it all and the new apartment they needed. Her sales job didn't pay much and so since his credit was good, he took a loan from the bank. But that wasn't enough so he borrowed from work and then from friends.

Finally the D day came and she had a ball. Her wedding was the talk among her friends for weeks. Reality sets in when at the end of the month what they bring home is hardly enough to feed one mouth not to talk of two. They find out she is pregnant. How are they going to cater for another mouth? This piece of news which is to bring them joy, the joy of knowing they were going to be parents. Their joy is short lived and turns to sorrow. They start to argue about every little thing. Her happily ever after is turning into a nightmare! She didn't wish for this?!

You don't need to have an extravagant wedding to be happy, do what you can afford. Remember the wedding is only an event, a one day event! Your life together is however till death does you part. Plan and invest in your lives together. Don't get too caught up in the event of the wedding ceremony and forget what is important.
I've witnessed many newly weds struggle because of this. Let me know of your experience or that of someone you know.
