Choices: Love or Religion

Sometimes by no fault of ours we
happen to fall in love with people who don't have the same beliefs as ours. It
is hard to let go especially because we're in love. We try to find a solution
that doesn't involve breaking up. We try to compromise our beliefs and pray
begging God to understand us.

However, though we try to compromise
we already know God's verdict concerning this issue. The bible is clear on
dating and marrying people of other faiths or those who hold no beliefs at all.
2 Cor 6:4 tells us not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers. When it comes to
marriage and relationship you can't compromise this, it doesn't matter how much
you feel you love the person. You might even feel the person is the love of your
life but if he is an unbeliever then the answer is no.
If the person is willing to convert
then great but even then you shouldn't enter into a relationship with the person
until he or she has matured spiritually in the Lord. If he or she isn't willing
to convert but rather expects you to convert to their religion then you need to
flee from them. Whether they ask you to pretend to their families that you've
converted to their religion or actually convert you must not do so. Your
salvation is far more important than any relationship here on earth. The bible
says in Matthew 16:26 "For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole
world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his
soul?" Mark 8:36 "For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole
world, and lose his own soul?" What shall it profit you to gain a man or a woman
but lose your soul? Remember if you denounce Christ He will also denounce
you.
Your relationship with God through
Jesus Christ is far more important than a relationship or marriage. Let the
unbelieving person or the person of a different faith go and trust your love
life to God. He will bring you someone who loves you and believes in him. Every
believer has been given the ministry of reconciliation, you can't carry out this
purpose if you're unequally unyoked.
