What is our gospel? Is it rules and
regulations or is it morality? Is our gospel a religion or a life. Does our
gospel just tell people the way they should live their lives and holds them down
with the fear of eternal damnation? Is the God we preach one who is out there
counting our sins against us and constantly looking out to punish us?
What is our gospel then? Our gospel
is a gospel of love and redemption. It is the greatest love story ever written
of mankind and God. We do not preach a God who is intolerant or a God who wants
to damn us to hell. We preach salvation to man. We preach grace. We preach
freedom and liberty for all. We preach love to all whether male or female, white
or black or Hispanic or Asian. We preach God who loves all men equally and has
no prejudice. We preach a God who just wants to wipe out all your sins.
He is not a God who can't identify
with your pain or your situation. He isn't Someone who wants to take your
freedom away from you but wants to give you real freedom. He is God who wants to
give you a brand new life. A fresh start no matter where you've fallen to. It
doesn't matter how far you've fallen, for His love for you made Him pay for your
sins so you don't have to pay for them.
He isn't interested in condemning
anyone but wants to give you life. Our gospel is love. A love so pure that God
was willing to become man just to restore you to Himself. A love that makes Him
give you the power of attorney to use His authority, to reign and rule on
earth.
Our gospel is not religion but a new
life. God doesn't just patch you up or modify you but rather He makes you new!
You're born again after His spirit and so become alive spiritually. He gives you
a clean sheet to start over.
Our gospel is not morality for our
gospel is grace. It is gaining favour and justification with God not because we
deserve it but because it is a gift from God through Jesus. Our gospel is a personal relationship
with God Himself. Our Gospel is sonship that is becoming sons of God almighty.
Our gospel is good news. Our gospel is life, abundance of life.
