Easter is a time of solemn reflection on what our salvation
cost God. We relive the pain, torture, suffering and death of our Lord, Jesus.
This is a time when TV plays over and over again different versions of the
passion of Christ. Though Easter appears to be a solemn occasion I believe it is
rather a happy one for us all Christian and the world generally.
During Easter God’s redemption plan is climaxed. It is a love
story so pure, so total, so consuming and so astonishing. God showed us love by
ultimately dying to save us. According to Jesus, “Greater love hath no man than
this, that a man lay down his life for his friends” (Joh 15:13). He revealed to
us true love by giving up His life for us. He took on our nature of sin so that
we can take up His nature of righteousness. Though He knew no sin He came sin
so that we are made righteous by faith in Him.
Through Easter we were absolved of all our sins and justified
before God. Through Easter, Jesus took our place at the cross, He took on our
punishment and suffered so that we would not have to. True love is not selfish,
it does not seek for its own, true love is patient, kind, bears and endures all
things, thinks no evil, and believes all things. That is the kind of love that
God has shown and continues to show us through Jesus. God’s love for us
ultimately made Him give up His only son to die in our stead for our sins.
“Behold what manner of love the father has shown unto us that we should become
sons of God.”
This Easter be reminded of God’s immense love for you. He loved
you so much that He gave up Heaven’s best Jesus just for you. Your sins are
forgiven, your diseases healed, you’re born again, spirit filled and powerful
because of God’s love. Be happy and thankful and take the opportunity to tell
someone about the love story of Jesus.
