Popular culture shoves sex down our throats every day and at any time. We can’t practically go through a day without coming across an ad or music that is sexual. Sex is equated with love. Sex is projected as hip, you’re old school if you’re not having sex.
Virginity and naivety are equated. Chaste boys and girls are
scorned and ostracized by their peers. They’re termed as dorks. They’re tagged
as abnormal instead of normal. They are harrased by both their peers and the
media to indulge in sex. Sex is made to look so alluring for both teenagers and
adults. While the young are encouraged to part with chastity, the married are
encouraged to try other partners. They are encouraged to have multiple partners.
The preacher is seen as unreasonable and crazy when he preaches
on purity and chastity. They say “You’re old school. You don’t know what you’re
talking about. Even God understands that times have changed and besides we need
to satisfy our sexual urge!”
