Picture Perfect on the Outside

by - 10:30:00

We all have varied experiences in life. People’s perception of our lives and experiences are not usually the same for us. On the outside all they see of us is the confidence, excellence, our achievements and how blessed we are. They only see the smiles and joy that we put out there. They speak about how blessed we are and how they wish they are in our position. Some even long to have what we have.

What they do not see is our struggles. They don’t see that just like them we’ve got stuffs to deal with and overcome. They don’t realise that though we’re happy and joyful, this is as a result of the choice we made to stay happy and joyful no matter what. We’ve all got our struggles, and our weaknesses that we hide from the world. No one is perfect and sometimes we go through the most heart breaking situations but we always opt to trust in God. We believe and hope as Abraham hoped against hope.

Though on the outside all may seem well there are times that things are crazy. There are days that we feel like throwing in the towel and calling it quits! There are days that we wonna scream so bad and cry and shout out to God. We just want to make sense out of our lives. It isn’t easy trusting God when everything becomes blurry and when we don’t understand what is happening. Like everyone else we feel insecure and passionless sometimes. We have our own fears and hear discouraging voices in our mind. We’re burned and burned over and over again. We get to that point of recognising how  frail we are. It is, however, at this point of our weakness, confusion and resignation that the Lord’s strength is made perfect in us.

We recognise that He felt what we feel and heard what we hear (discouraging voices), His faith was tested, He prayed and cried to God. He was tired just like we usually are but that not withstanding He accomplished His purpose on earth. Because He felt everything that we feel He will strengthen us. He has overcome the world therefore we can take solace in this fact. In our weakness His strength is made perfect. Until we come to that point of weakness we cannot surrender totally to him.

The next time you wish to be someone else remember that their situation may not necessarily be better than yours. Even if it appears better it doesn't make it better in reality. Everyone has their struggle so work to achieve the changes that you require by trusting in God. You are all you are ever going to be, you can't be anyone else but you. Don't compare yourself to anyone for you are you and not them and can't be them.
