What to Expect When you’ve Got a Dream

by - 08:00:00

Whenever God births a dream in you there are various stages that you’ll go through. My list may not be exhaustive these are my personal experience and that of people I lookup to. When a dream is birth in you the very first stage you pass through is excitement and amazement. You see all the possibilities and great things that your idea can accomplish.

You see the awards you’ll win and the money that you may earn. You’re on cloud nine at this point. You only see the positive side of your idea and can’t see any reason why you can’t accomplish your dreams. You don’t see what it will cost you in order to realise your dreams.

The second stage comes when the excitement wears off. During this stage doubt slowly creeps in slowly until it consumes you. The dream stealer and the guy who can’t simply stand it for you to be the best that God created you to be attacks and may steal all your excitement depending on how you handle him. The devil’s job is to make you doubt your God given potentials and abilities. He makes you see all the reasons why this new  dream of yours will fail just like all the others. He uses the spirit of fear to attack you and intimidate you until you give up! This stage is so well staged that most believers are convinced and just give up on their dreams. They sadly never birth their dreams.

However we only do ourselves a disservice when we give up on our dreams. 2 Timothy 1:7 tells us that “ For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind (KJV).” Hence as believers we must overcome the spirit of fear by faith. We have to overlook what fear presents and rather look to the word of God and chase our dreams.

When this stage fails then the third stage is set.  At this stage people will discourage you and even turn against you because of your dreams. Joseph didn’t doubt his dreams but believed them. After sharing his dreams his brothers hated him and even his father rebuked him for saying that one day they’ll all serve him. People will come against you even when you’ve not taken steps to achieve your dreams just sharing them is enough to turn some people against you. These people can actually kill your dreams. They’re toxic and need to be dealt with. You’ll have to separate yourself from them. In order to achieve your dreams you’ll have to cut off all the critical voices.

The fourth stage is when you jump. That is take the  risk to fulfill your dreams. This is not to be taken as the last stage because after deciding to chase your dreams you’ll encounter multiple  road bumps that you’ll have to overcome. You’ll have to fasten your seat-belt for a rough ride.  You’ll go through the first stages multiple times than you can count but the reward at the end will be worth it. Your greatest failure is not failure but failing to try. If it all doesn’t go well get up and dust yourself and try it again until you achieve the desired result.

The following are some scriptures to encourage you.
Matthew 17:20 So Jesus said to them, "Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. (NKJV)
Mat 19:26 But Jesus looked at them and said to them, "With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible." (NKJV)
Mark 9:23 Jesus said to him, "If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes." (NKJV)
I love to hear from you. Don't leave without sharing your thoughts.
