That One Thing that is Most Important
There are a lot of things that call for our attention; our career, family, friends, spouse, kids and our personal needs. We spend our days trying to find the balance of attending to all our needs and those of others.
Attending to everyone takes a lot of
energy and can leave us drained. There is a story in the Bible that I love so
much. It tells us what to do. Jesus went to visit His friends Mary and Martha.
As He got there Martha got busy attending to Him as we all do to any friend or
visitor who pays a visit to our home. Martha wanted to make sure that Jesus was
comfortable and well fed but that is where she missed it! Martha couldn't
understand why Mary was sitting at Jesus' feet listening to Him rather than
helping her to cater for Jesus.
Jesus replied to Martha saying that
Mary had chosen the best part which will not be taken from her. All that we need
to do is to sit at the feet of Jesus and soak in His word when we do, all things
fall into place. Whatever that we need to take care of is taken care of easily
as we sit at the feet of Jesus. The principal thing that we need is personal
fellowship with our Lord.
Fellowship with our Lord always
refreshes us and restores us. Remember to recharge yourself always with the Word
of God.
Luke 10:38 Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. 10:39 And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word. 10:40 But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. 10:41 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: 10:42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.
Do that one thing that is needful and
all the rest will fall into place for you. Do you have too much on your plate
and don't know what to do? Sit at the feet of our Lord and soak into His word.
I love to hear from you, let me know your thoughts below.
