5 Ways to Grow Your Faith as a Christian
How do you grow in faith as a believer? Is it possible to grow
in faith as a believer? What are the practical ways to grow your faith. In this
post, I take a look at 5 ways you can grow your faith as a Christian.
1. Hear the word of God always
Faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God.
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17
In order to grow your faith in God you need to consistently
hear the word of God. You need to fill your life with the word not just on
Sundays but everyday. Listen to the messages of your pastor and other faith
preachers. The more you hear God’s word the more your faith will grow as it will
cause you to stay focused on the word.
2. Read and meditate on the word of God
This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. Joshua 1:8 (KJV)
Think on the word of God and keep confessing it. As you do so
you’ll receive insight into the word of God. This will grow your faith. The word
will transform and renew your mind. It will make you live by the spirit of God.
Let the word of God be sweet to you.
Ps 119:103 How sweet are Your words to my taste, Sweeter than honey to my mouth!Ps 119:105 Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.
3. Spend time with God in fellowship
Spend time praying, worshipping and praising God. The more you
spend time with God, the more your faith will grow as you get to know Him better
and understand His ways. Jesus focused on His relationship with the Father as He
spent so much time in prayer. He prayed at night and early dawn.
And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed. Mark 1:35
And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone. Matthew 14:23
Understand that God loves you, this will help you grow in
understanding His love. When you spend time with God you’ll know how perfectly
He loves you. This will get rid of all your doubts and fears as a result your
faith in Him will grow.
1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. (NKJV)
4. Exercise your Faith
Another way to grow your faith is to use it. Act on the word of
God. Take the authority that God has given you seriously and make use of it. For
example, the word of God says; you will lays hands on the sick and they will
recover, act on this word. The next time a friend or a family member falls sick,
why not lay your hands on the person believing that he will be healed as
scripture says? The more you use your faith the more you grow.
James 1:22-24: But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. (NKJV)
Philemon 1:6: That the sharing of your faith may become effective by the acknowledgment of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus. (NKJV)
5. Spread the gospel
The fifth way to grow your faith is to reach out to others with
the gospel of Jesus Christ. Share Jesus to people of other faiths or those with
no faith at all. God confirms His word when you share His word with others. As
God confirms His word it grows your faith.
And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen. Mark 16:20 (NKJV)
Philemon 1:6 in God’s WORD Translation says
“As you share the faith you have in common with others, I pray that you may come to have a complete knowledge of every blessing we have in Christ.”
Sharing the gospel greatly grows your faith. It will help you to discover your gifts and calling.
I want to encourage you to believe "For with God nothing will be impossible." Luke 1:37(NKJV) As you continue to seek the Lord and act on His word your faith will grow.
What other ways do you grow your faith? How did you or are you growing your faith? I would love to hear from you in the comments.
