Our Gospel is NOT in Word but of Power
The world is full of misconceptions and dislike for Christianity. More Christians than ever before in the history of the church are being persecuted. Society frowns on and looks at Christianity with a lot of disdain. They hate one person, Jesus. They see Jesus as a threat rather than love or hope.
It appears any religion can be
tolerated no matter how much they hurt humanity. However you only have to
mention the name of Jesus and you'll have people ganging up against you. Most
people have this attitude about Christianity because of perhaps a
misrepresentation of Christianity or they may not have come into contact with
any Christian.
We can talk and defend our faith in
Christ and tell them the hope in Christ and the love of God or we can Lord our
redemption over them without giving them a chance to experience the love of
Christ for themselves. People may not see Jesus physically but they see you, so
by all means be Jesus to them. Don't misunderstand me here. What I mean is that
let them see you living like Christ did. He never turned away sinners but had
compassion on them and taught them God's word. He healed their diseases and set
them free from the bondage of the enemy. You can do what He did.
Jesus tells believers that what He
did we will do more and so take His word by faith and move out.
Mark 16:17 "And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues;
18 "they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover." (NKJ)
You see Jesus didn't say these signs
will follow pastors, apostles, prophets, healers or miracle workers or
evangelists but anyone who believes in Him. That means you! Isn't that just
amazing? So go ahead and lay hands on the sick and believe that they will
recover. Since I got this revelation I've prayed for people I met on the bus,
in the market, on the road, hospitals, my students, my family that list goes on
and on. They were healed because I trusted in God's word. This is the word of
Jesus to you who believe. Go out there and impact lives.
They may not listen to your sermon
initially but after the demonstration of the power of God in Christ Jesus you'll
have their full attention. You can trust this I've seen it countless number of
times on missions trips with Footworks International.
Remember our gospel is not in words
but by the demonstration of power. We have the authority to tap into the
supernatural to bring change into the lives of those hurting and those lost! The
good news is you can do it right where you are. This is our gospel. Our gospel
is not just a religion but a life to be lived and expressed. A life that gives
life to others.
