Now That You Are Saved: What Happens When You Accept Jesus into Your Heart
Welcome to my new series, Now that You Are Saved. In this series I’ll take a look at what it means to be born again and how to grow as a believer. In this first post in the series I take a look at what happens when you accept Jesus as your Lord and personal saviour. Get a cup of coffee or tea and let’s dig into the word of God and discover who we are in Christ.
Today’s post
The most important decision any human being can make is to
accept Jesus Christ as his/her Lord and personal saviour. All men are born
sinners.
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God Romans 3:23, KJV
Though you are born a sinner because you are a descendant of
Adam and Eve, God has provided you with a way to be justified and forgiven of
all your sins. He has made it possible for your nature of sin to be replaced by
His righteous and holy nature. Your sinful nature is replaced with His sinless
nature when you believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus in your heart and
confess it with your mouth.
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. 2Corinthians 5:21(KJV)
When you accept Jesus as your Lord and personal savior
something really extraordinary takes place in your spirit. You become born
again! Yes, your spirit is born anew by the Holy Spirit of God.
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.2Corinthians 5:17 (KJV)
You cease to be a sinner as you are totally transformed and
given the nature of God. This is because you become His child by accepting
Jesus.
You have become a child of the Almighty God! You may not feel like it but that is who you are now! This is your new identity.
I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High. Psalm 82:6 (KJV)
You have been given a new identity and your old sinful nature
is no more. You are now part of God’s family. You have become a ‘God Being’.
When you accept Jesus into your heart and proclaim with your mouth His Lordship
over your life, you become saved and justified before God. You cease to be an
ordinary human being and put on the nature of God.
In the next post I’ll continue the discussion on what happens
when you become saved or born again. Share with your friends and family.
