Most people usually grow up preoccupied with the idea of finding Mr. or Ms. right. They make a long list of the qualities he should possess. They spend time going over the list, they add to and subtract from the list with time. They are so preoccupied with finding that one special person who completes them; their Mr. or Ms. Right, that they forget to prepare themselves to be that Mr. or Ms. right! It is great to know the kind of person you would like to spend the rest of your life with but it is best you work on being that person yourself.

- Don’t marry because of sex or fear of temptation
- Don’t marry because of pity
- Don’t marry because of beauty or figure because both fade with time
- Don’t marry because of pressure (this is especially the case for women when they age are in their late 20s and early 30s. This can also happen when all your friends get married)
- Don’t marry for respect or status (Don’t let people intimidate you because you’re single)
Over the centuries and through out history there are men who have sought to make themselves equal to God. They proclaim themselves as God and use every means possible to get people to worship them. They have used every brutal and barbaric force possible to make people acknowledge them as gods but one thing is for sure, although they claimed themselves to be gods they couldn’t and can't escape death.
The whole world longs for a hero, someone who would save us all from the enemy and the hardships of life. You just need to read comics and children stories to find out that the world is preoccupied with heroes. We grew up with heroes like the Spider Man, Batman, Superman, Hercules, Sinbad just to mention a few.
When you try to serve God without having a personal revelation of Him or experiencing intimacy with Him, you serve Him with your own strength. While this might work for some time, it will fail in the end. Your relationship with Him will begin to go stale and produce no lasting results for you. Others may be blessed by your ministry but you yourself will not be. There will always be something lacking and the joy for ministering to the Father will be lost. You'll quickly be burned out as your passion for Him and souls dissolve in the sea of trails and the cares of this world.
Love is a very essential human need. Everyone wants to be loved. Love is not just a want but a need that ought to be satisfied. Every human being without exception needs love, that is the way we have been created. Love is not limited to race or social status. The need to be loved in man does not diminish with time or age.
I know someone or should I say I know some people who were
smart enough to plan their lives when they were teenagers including myself. I did plan
my life and had just the perfect plan. I knew what University I wanted to attend. I pictured my life on campus. I wanted to go to graduate school after my Bachelors but before that I wanted to be a Teaching Assistant when I graduated. And guess
what I did get to be and do all that I had planned. I also planned my career and my whole life generally.
It was great to live my dream, I thought I had my life all figured out and had a fool proof plan. I am a go getter who sticks to her plans and gets annoyed if she has to do something that she hasn’t planned for. I plan my week ahead, if anything unexpected cropped up then I would get very upset. There are people who can no doubt identify with me. It’s amazing how I had thought that I had my whole life figured out. I had even planned my relationships. But I’ve come to know that life isn’t a perfectly written script that goes according to what I’ve written. We can’t always have our way. There are times when life gives us what we really need which might not be what we have dreamed of or for. Sometimes things happen that bring us pain and cause us so much sorrow. Things do happen that we cannot understand and some situations are just beyond our control.
I hope you can read this till the end because I wrote this purposely for you. Don’t get too mad. We just want you back, the real you not the you you’re right now but the true you. We miss you and love you. Please do not continue to shut us out. Hope you do read this and at least it makes a good impact on.
I want to write about you but I don’t know
where to start. I guess this is not one of my usual blog posts. You’re so close
yet so distant. We talk, we laugh, we love and we share together yet I can’t
name what it is that we now have. Yes, we say we are friends and people call us
friends but can the word ‘friend’ really truly define and encompass who we are?
Does the word hold all we have and have been through?
We have known each
other since before I was born or should I rather say that you've known me since
then. It took me some time to recognise your existence and to accept your
unfailing love for me but I was glad that I did. Knowing that you love me
unconditionally in spite of all the bad that I do, the assurance of your never
failing love and knowledge that nothing can separate me from your love give me
much peace and rest.
I
have made a lot of good choices and also a lot of pretty bad ones too but
through it all you've been consistently with me. I
have fallen down so many times that I lost count
Dear God,
I am so confused and very sad at this
moment because of the shootings in France. I’m so sad and confused and totally
stunned because I can’t just believe how wicked some people can be. Your word
teaches me to have compassion for and love those who do me wrong but sometimes
that is just so hard to do. My heart goes out to all of France and every person
who lost a friend, brother, sister, son, daughter, father and mother in this
terrorist attack. I know no words can fill the void that you feel in you now or
calm you.
So you think that you hate you! You’ve never said it aloud and
perhaps have never even dared to confess it to yourself but the fact is you hate
yourself. You don’t know when you began to do so or what led you to but now you
do and don’t know how to love you anymore. You can see so many defects about
your body and personality. You can hear so loudly all the bad things people say behind your back.
Congratulations! You’ve made it into
2015! 2014 was a year full of great things as well as some disappointments.
Maybe it was a pretty bad year for you but there is hope because through it all
you survived! I commend you for your tenacity through all the storms and sunny
days. This year holds a lot of great things for you. You’ve been given a blank
cheque of 365 days. It is all yours to write memories on and stamp on great
exploits.
It is that time of the year where we
pick our note books and pens and write down our resolutions for the new year.
What do you want to achieve this year? I know you have great plans for the year
and some of you have a backlog of last year’s resolutions to catch up with but
there is hope. Even as you write down your resolutions know that anything is
possible if you believe.
To be a famous Hollywood actor or actress you must be handsome or beautiful as well as talented! Well not just in Hollywood but in the movie industry as a whole. By acting, you present the world with situations that are or could be. As you try to realistically portray the role that you are given, chances are that you’ll get very involved with your character for the duration of the filming. Then after the filming the people who watch you on screen become involved with your character. They get so involved that they forget that you’re not who you are depicting but somebody else. They buy into the world created on film so much so that they stop to live as themselves! Instead they focus on pursuing nonexistent lifestyles!
There are varying definitions that
have been given to feminism. There is no one agreed definition for the term
FEMINISM. The term feminisme was coined in late nineteenth century
France and spread into other languages. The fight to emancipate women and ensure
that they have equal opportunities just like males dates as far back as 195 BC
when Roman women demonstrated at a forum against the anti-female Opian
law.
There are a lot of women who although
fight for the rights of women would not want to be associated with feminism. I
do understand them because I think the word has been so abused and over used. As
it stands, currently, it is women versus men when it comes to fighting for the
rights of women. Men are represented as the oppressors and subjugators of women.
They appear to be the originators of the woes of women. In order to achieve
equality the female is sometimes forced to let go of her femininity. She pursues career rather than having a family. She
chooses to be a lesbian so that she does not have to submit in marriage to a
man.
I do know and recognise that the
female gender has been misunderstood and maltreated for centuries and
yes females do have issues that cannot be ignored or taken for granted.
However, I believe the approach to solving the concerns of women to ensure that
their humanity and essence are recognised by all is rather lacking. Feminism
does not offer lasting solutions to problems females all over the world go
through. It has rather brought a division between women. This is because what a
woman in the west needs is totally different from what another needs who is an
Asian, African or Hispanic. This divide makes it difficult for feminism to
formulate a holistic approach in resolving the problems facing women. Race and
their different social milieu make it impossible to grasp each other’s unique
needs as women.
In order to solve the female problem
we need to go back to God and discover who He has purposed for a woman to be and
also who He has destined for a man to be. Man means both male and female. Man is
not simply male but both sexes. It is in knowing our identities as male or female
and living according to it that we can solve all our issues. THE FEMALE’S
PROBLEM IS NOT THE MALE but rather sin. The desire of man to hurt and suppress
can only be taken care of when a man is born again. It is when he accepts Christ
Jesus as his Lord and personal saviour. It is in Christ that he can love the
female as he loves himself. It is in unconditional love and the rebirth of our
spirits that we can do away with our urge to hurt and discriminate against each
other. The solution is not in pointing out every horrible experience women go
through but in recognising that we cannot solve these on our own. If we could
have done that then there should be no need for feminists to exist in the 21st
century because all the issues of women should have been dealt with by now. We
should be living in a world where both sexes have equal opportunities and are
treated and regarded as equals. This, unfortunately, is not the case because
since the time of Mary Wollstonecraft, Germaine Necker de Stael and Simone de
Beauvoir’s till date the same issues are being discussed. The emancipation of
the female does not lie with feminism but in Christ Jesus.
So a friend is writing a comparative
analysis of Amma Darko’s Beyond the Horizon and Chimamanda Ngozi
Adichie’s Americanah for her Master of Philosophy in English thesis.
She happened to give me copies of both books and on reading them, I’m outraged,
surprised, and amused for a lack of a better word. I could use several
adjectives to define or describe the emotions that were going through me as I
read these novels. I’ve had to remind myself that these works are just fiction.
The realistic representation of women and racism is biting and unnerving.
What do you do if you fail to take advantage of an opportunity? A great one at that! How do you quickly recover and move on after you miss a great opportunity? Do you just wallow in self-pity and mentally blame yourself over and over again? The good news is you can quickly recover from failure and move on.
There is a saying that goes; “If one door closes, another will open.” This may sometimes sound so cliché and untrue but patience has a way of bringing things and people into the right perspective. When you miss or lose an opportunity you may choose to focus on the “What ifs” and “If only”. However, you need to quickly let go of the "What ifs" and "If only" and focus on other areas that you can explore. Don't allow this one choice to blind you from seeing the other opportunities around you. This may not be so easy especially if the opportunity you lost was something really great and special, right?
Well, who determines which opportunity is greater or more special than the other? You might be very surprised! Have you heard of “All that glitters is not gold?” Yeah, I admit that’s also a bit cliché. I agree but there are truths in these clichés if I may say. You would be surprised what you can find in some of the opportunities that are like gold to you. The worst is that you might have found out too late. Now don't get it twisted, I’m not saying all great opportunities are not what they seem. All that I’m saying is that be careful and don’t make your decisions based on emotions and the money. Sorry, I almost run totally off track today. Now back to my main point.
When you lose an opportunity don’t beat up yourself so much rather quickly put it behind you and move on. Strategize and look at the other opportunities that might be staring at you right in the face but you are not paying attention to. You might be surprised what you would find. There might be gold that you are missing because it’s still buried in soil or rock. All I’m saying is that there are opportunities that are golden but might not appear so from the onset.
See the best in every opportunity and don’t restrict yourself. Pick up new challenges and don’t stick to a routine because routines are boring and limiting. Try something new! Let me know how that goes! Remember if you think there are no opportunities around you, then create your own! Turn your passion into your career!
Love you loads! So until my next post, stay blessed and trust in God. Have faith!
Sometimes life gets really busy when
you have a lot of things to do and deadlines to meet. You can get so swamped by
everything going on and in making sure you fulfill your responsibilities that
you forget you. You forget what it is like to be you and be alone with
yourself.
Don’t ever get so caught up in
fulfilling your responsibilities that you forget to take time off to relax. We
take for granted that there are times when we need to rest in order to take
stock of our lives. Taking stock is really important. You need to reflect on
where you’ve come from and on where you’re going. You need to ask yourself; “Am
I doing what I set off to do?” “Am I fulfilling my purpose on earth or
otherwise?” It is important to have a me time alone where you pray and reflect.
You cannot know where you stand in terms of your achievements and mistakes
unless you assess yourself. After you’ve prayed, reflected and assessed your
situation, it’s time to act!

For those days when you feel so down and low. When you feel no one understands you or cares about what you’re dealing with. When you feel as though all everyone cares about is taking from you what they need. When you feel they don’t really care about you. In those days when you are feeling low, depressed, misunderstood or unloved; focus on the reality of the love of God. Focus on God's proof of love for you, Jesus.
Although, there are times that all may seem totally lost and your life may appear to be dreary with no light at the end of the tunnel, know for certain that there is someone who loves you. He loves you more than you love yourself and He amazingly loves you for you! He has seen it all and heard it all, yet He is never taken aback by anything you do! I am sometimes tempted to believe that He loves you more than Himself because He paid your ransom with His own life! He did this with only one thought in mind, love for you! He did this so He can always have you close to shower you with His love! No greater love has any man than to lay down his life for his friend. And this is true love, that when we were yet sinners Christ shed His blood for us! Behold what manner of love the father has given unto us!
